Update for Pyramid Mountain Camp - August 26, 2017
Since the arrival of our 3rd group on August 23, there has been some good fishing around camp and at the different lies on our extraordinary stretch of the George River. This group has been returning to fish with us each year and 2017 marks their 4th consecutive trip to Pyramid Camp.
The water level has dropped slightly but is still very high for this time of year. Generally, morning weather has been a little foggy and lifting later in the morning, Temperatures are cool with night temps falling to 5 C(41 F) and daytime conditions reaching around 15 C(60 F). Prevailing winds have been from the north and northwest wind at about 5 - 10 mph during the day with scattered clouds. Basically, perfect salmon fishing weather.

OUR WEEK #3 so far for 6 rods

Group arrived August 23, late PM hooked 3 near camp before supper:
August 24 - hooked 18 largest 18 lbs
(4 over 15 lbs)
and 12 grilse ranging from 6 to 8 lbs.
August 25 - hooked 19 largest 17lbs

August 26 - hooked 16 largest 15 lbs

Bright silver salmon continue to migrate up into our waters from Ungava Bay and beyond. Some of the salmon have been holding in our pools for a few weeks now so there are also darker fish occupying the area. They still hold the great stamina and power that you would expect from a George River Atlantic.

At the present time, a good streak of 5 to 8 lb. grilse have showed up and are providing some good excitement for our fly fishers. Owner/guide Peter May (pictured beside with his grand daughter Laura) has been seeing many grilse sized fish moving up through the river close to shore.
The next few days should prove to be quite productive, weather conditions permitting of course.
