EQUIPMENT
FLY ROD
A 9 foot WT 8 rod  is suitable for such a big river such as the George and his weather conditions.

Most convinient for flight transportation is a 4-piece rod, which can easely be stored in the cabin's overhead luggage department or attached to a backpack.
Picture
Fly fishing equipment for Brook Trout should Include a 5 to 7 weight fly rod.

* It is advisable to bring a spare salmon rod.

FLY REEL
A solid reel with 200 - 250 yards backing (30 lbs)  is a must to fight powerful George River salmon. Make sure the reel has a sensitive yet powerful brake, to fight big fish in the rapids.

WEATHER - CLOTHES - TO BRING
The Pyramid Mountain Camp is located in Nunavik ca. 1.400 km north of Montreal.
But It does'nt mean, it is much colder in summer.

When we are open in August and September you may experience sunny and warm, but not unpleasant hot days
.
Picture
At the same time the thermometer can drop down significantly and a few windy and rainy days maybe excellent for fishing, but not for sensitive fisherman and -girls.
Experienced fly fishermen know what to bring, but check with our list before you forget something.

We simply don't want, that you overload yourself or an aircraft
.
But  ... the weather in Arctic Quebec during late August to mid- September can be very changeable. Good rain gear is a must and you should dress in layers which will enable you to add or shed a layer of clothing as the weather changes.

STATISTICS
Picture
2017 started with low water on the George River in early June. Water started rising by the 3rd week and continued to come up until mid August resulting in levels higher than had been observed for a couple of decades for this time of year.
Salmon runs  started early with our first fresh salmon caught on July 30th. The fish came in large groups, probably due to the very high water conditions and the runs were spectacular in terms of number and size of the fish.
Groups of large salmon and Grilse were seen daily swimming along the shoreline. These huge runs continued with no pause in fish coming in for 6 weeks straight making for very significant numbers of fish in the lies around camp, even during the latter part of September.
The numbers of salmon at Pyramid Mountain Camp have continually increased for 6 years now and are nearing our historical levels of the early days of our operations.
Many bright fish continued to arrive and hold in our pools all season which made the fishing for everyone very productive, even for novice fly fishers. All of our clients this summer hooked numerous salmon during their stay at camp and many of the fish were well over 15 lbs.

A great season of salmon fishing for all!
